Carol’s switch between different modes of sentence precision is somewhat inspired by the pesterlog antics in Homestuck. I’m not planning to start dumping 20k of 3cc3ntr1c 0rth0gr2p}{y beneath each page but I like the idea of using the various cadences one puts into IM to indicate different emotional states.

Also I’ll probably go back into the previous two pages and fix Carol’s face now that I’ve figured out how to draw her.

Ooh, and I almost forgot: here’s the initial rough for this page. Click on it for a closer look. Sometimes I rough stuff out with lines but I mostly try to do it with shapes these days.

So much for staying ahead of schedule! I spent most of yesterday running around getting furniture for my new place so I can have an art party this weekend, and reading Asterios Polyp after a commenter compared Rita to it. Polyp is one hell of a piece of comics!

Memo to self: USE SUNSCREEN.

Sorry this is getting a little depressing; there will be more action soon!

As an experiment I also put all the pages to date into a very very wide image. This is sort of its native format and sort of not. I don’t think it quite works like that but it’s an interesting failure; one of these days I kinda want to do a comic that does work like that. (Maybe even one that’s one huge continuous image with panel borders over it. Now that’s a stunt and a half.)

Also now I think this should be getting posted at midnight Seattle time instead of midnight GMT. Oopsie.

And finally I decided to add a footnote explaining my c64 video game reference to page 7.

I drew and posted this page entirely while on the train from Seattle to Portland. I love living in the future!

oh yeah, also:

I played the heck out of Paradroid when I was a kid, so it was only natural to give the Influence Device a cameo here.
